About us

The “Department of Nutrition (Master Program)” is affiliated to the College of Medical and Health Care. It was founded in 2005 with the mission of promoting education and research in the field of nutrition and Medicine. Our department is currently the only institute of nutritional medicine established in Taiwan and start enrolling students in August 2009.

The “Department of Nutrition (Master’s Program)” is affiliated to the College of Medical and Health Care. It was established in 2005 with a mission to promoting education and research in the fields of nutrition and medicine. The Department of Nutrition was officially established in August 1998 to provide training channels for senior high school graduates to meet the urgent needs of on-the-job training for graduates of nutrition, food or catering related departments of the Central Vocational Schools. There are 2 classes (day part) and one class of continuing education department in the first. As of the 111 academic year, there are 14 graduates in total.

The department currently has 9 full-time teachers (3 professors, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professor) and 2 project assistant professors.

 

Education feature

The education feature is “Cultivate nutrition professionals with both theoretical and practical skills and lifelong learning ability”, including biomedical nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietary nutrition, community and long-term care, as well as other abilities so that the graduates of this department have market competitiveness, professional certification ability and future career development potential.

Our courses range from fundamental nutrition, medicine, biomedicine, health and biotechnology, and community nutrition education to give students with interdisciplinary knowledge and practical skills. Our faculty members consist of full-time and part-time staff, are experts in areas that include specialist doctors, nutritionists, nurses, and professionals in the health industry, etc. We aim to strengthen interdisciplinary connections between nutrition, medicine, and other nursing related disciplines, creating excellent research and educational opportunities for our students. With theoretical and experiential learning, our students are trained to work in the fields of nutrition consultation, nutrition education, research fellow in medical and academic organizations, and staff member in related enterprises. They can also choose to continue their postgraduate studies at the Institute of Biomedical Nutrition in Hung Kuang University or other university departments.

 

Career opportunities

According to the characteristics of nutrition department —

(1) Nutrition Practical Course:

Clinical and dietary Dietitian (Dietitians in medical institutions, group catering institutions, confinement centers, nursing centers for the elderly, central kitchens, primary and secondary schools, etc.). Nutrition consulting professional services, planning and marketing personnel of related industries, food analysis and inspection personnel, food safety and sanitation management personnel.

(2) Biomedical nutrition:

Research or administrative assistants in medical and academic institutions, health technology research and development, quality control, planning, nutrition education lecturers and marketing personnel in nutrition and biotechnology related industries, food analysis and inspection personnel, food safety and hygiene management personnel.
